We continued our spiritual warfare series yesterday.  Dave's message was called "Suiting Up For Battle" and dealt with the armor of God.  I'll just say right up front that I really needed that message yesterday.  I came into work tired and not feeling real great after a very long weekend, and God really lifted me up with that message!

Musically, we kept things pretty simple this week.  We repeated "Counting On God" from last week (glad the congregation is getting into that one, since the band likes it so much!) and then played a couple standards.  We closed with Kutless' "Strong Tower" - a great song that we haven't played in a LONG time.  It took a little work in rehearsal to get that one back up to speed, but it turned out great!

We also used a short clip from "The Dark Knight" this morning to set up the message.  It worked really well!

All in all, a good week at CenterPoint!  Really looking forward to the last couple weeks of this series, God is definitely moving through it!

Hi everybody... it's been quite some time since I've written here, despite my own good intentions!  MUCH has happened since my last post over two months ago, including two band camps and a LOT of gigs!  Hopefully I'll be able to get back here more regularly now.  In any case, I have lots of news to share today:

1. Website/Blog Changes - If you're viewing this page at www.themusiciansmind.com, you've already noticed that things look a little different around here.  A couple of weeks ago, I took it upon myself to completely redesign my website (www.ericfrisch.com), and as part of that redesign, I decided to integrate the blog.  Not a whole lot has actually changed - you can still access the page from www.themusiciansmind.com, and the RSS feed hasn't changed.  Since you're here, though, feel free to check out the other sections of the site!

2.  New Music! - At long last, the Secondhand People EP is complete!  I'm really proud of this record, and owe a great deal to Josh Howey for his contributions!  You can download the tracks now from the "Media/Store" section of the site.  The hardcopy CDs have been ordered, but haven't arrived yet, so if that's more your flavor, feel free to preorder, and I'll get it out you just as soon as it arrives!  I hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!  Here's a taste of the new record:
Sidenote: I'm hoping to book a lot of shows in November/December to support the new record.  If you think you might be able to help me out by hosting a house concert or promoting a larger event, shoot me an email ASAP on the "Contact" page!

3.  New Band! -
I've got a new acoustic cover project up and running now called The Two Guys Band.  We've got a website that you should definitely check out, and if you're in the Columbus region (or anywhere in Ohio, really), look us up for your next party or event!

Well, that should cover it for now!  I'll be back for Sunday Setlists, if not before!

100 05/27/2009

This is the 100th post here on The Musician's Mind!  It took me just a little longer than 6 months to get here.  I hope you all enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it.  I've had other blogs in the past, but none have really "hooked me" like this one.  The opportunity to jot some of my thoughts down, for others to read (or not - though I certainly appreciate it when you do!) has been truly valuable to me.  Unfortunately, I don't have much more time than this today, but check back in the next couple of days for a lot of great new stuff!  Thanks for helping me get to 100... here's to the next hundred!

Certainly not expecting anybody to actually use this, but it's still pretty cool.  Discovered through a post at ChurchCrunch this morning that anybody can now post an RSS feed on Kindle (the catch seems to be that they don't really check to verify that the feed is yours).  I didn't have much to do today, so I figured I'd set it up for fun.  The whole process is actually very simple, and this is the result:

Pretty slick.  If anybody out there has a Kindle (or the Kindle iPhone app), check it out!

Traveling Tweets 04/30/2009

Well, once again I'm hitting the road.  Leaving in a couple of hours for a 16 hour bus ride to New Orleans with a bunch of high school kids!  We'll be gone until Monday afternoon, and it promises to be a great trip!  As always, I'll be Twittering throughout the trip (hopefully with pictures this time!) - here's the feed:

Thanks! 03/09/2009

Just wanted to pop in and say a big thank you to all of those who read this blog - yesterday marked the highest number of hits on this page since I moved the ol' blog here to Weebly last November - over 275!  You guys rock!

Minor Changes 02/20/2009

Hey everyone - made a couple of minor changes to the blog design tonight, but they reflect bigger things happening behind the scenes:

1.  There's a shiny new subscription link up there in the corner where the old RSS link was.  I've been working on getting FeedBurner going on this site for a little while now, and I'm proud to say it's all done now.  The new subscription link will let you use FeedBurner to get updates by RSS or Email.  If you're already subscribed on RSS, that feed is still good too, but you might still consider updating.

2.  There's another new little box at the bottom of the righthand column.  It looks like this:

That's because The Musician's Mind is now using the Creative Commons license.  In case you're not familiar with Creative Commons: Basically, it just lays some ground rules for the way others can use the content I create on this site.  It's actually a good thing for everybody.  I've been considering it for a while, but a great post on churchcrunch.com today, I decided it was time to get it done.  If you want to know more about it and exactly what it means for me and for you, just click on the little box.

Blogaholic? 01/20/2009

Dan Kimball wrote a very interesting post last night about the possibilities (or not) of being addicted to blogs and other social media.  Very interesting stuff about how our online lives affect our "real life" relationships.  You can read the post here.

He's asking for some feedback for an upcoming article, so definitely check it out and weigh in!

Finally Home 11/07/2008

If you can read this, it means that all of my mad scientist work in the last day has paid off.  I've migrated my blog again, from Blogger to Weebly (the site that I already used to host my web-site).  I've used a Weebly blog for the "News" page of my web-site for a while now, and I definitely prefer the format to Blogger's, plus I have pretty much infinite control over content and customizability (if that's even a word) this way.  If you are used to getting the RSS feed from this blog, you'll have to update your settings... just click the link to the right.  Otherwise, nothing much should change!  Unfortunately, Weebly doesn't have a good way to import past entries from another blog, so I've got links back to both the Blogger page and my old Mindsay blog here.  Hopefully all the settings will get themselves worked out in the next few hours, and you will all be able to see this page soon!  Back to normal posting tomorrow :-)
